M August SEIDEL
Birth: 13 Nov 1822 _______________, Bachra, Thuringa, Germany (Letter, Dieter Gotze to unknown recipient.).
Marriage: 21 Sep 1851 Eva Rosine Dorotha HILDEMANN (b. 26 Jan 1827, d. 15 Apr 1895); _______________, Bachra, Thuringa, Germany (Letter, Dieter Gotze to unknown recipient.).
Biography: between 1865 and 1878 _______________, _______________, _______________, _______________; the following information is obtained:

August's age is not mentioned in the 1865, 1877, or 1878 letters. From the comment about daughter Minna being at home helping her mother, it can be assumed that his wife is still alive in 1878. He is apparently less well off financially than Christoph, as their father's will stipulates that he pay a considerably smaller amount towards the inheritance that their sister Hanna receives than Christoph is required to pay. The letter of 1878 gives information on his children as follows: Karl, living in Schonfeld near Leipzig is a cabinetmaker. Ferdinant, is in Turgau (possibly Turkey) as a soldier. Emilie, living in the 'parish' at Radgenstadt. Minna, age 15 at home helping her mother. Otto, 10 years old (assorted, Original records and papers, Letters from Christoph Seidel to his sister Hannah Ebenstein.)
Son: 6 Jul 1868 Friedrich Wilhelm Otto SEIDEL; _______________, Bachra, Thuringa, Germany (Letter, Dieter Gotze to unknown recipient.).
Death: 17 Jan 1913 _______________, Bachra, Thuringa, Germany (Letter, Dieter Gotze to unknown recipient.).

MISC: National Archives, military/pension file for Charles F. Ebenstein; Included in the 3 page report of the Pension Department's special examiner, George W. McKean, are the following comments on Hannah:

`...The soldier and claimant are Germans and that class of people keep their business affairs to themselves and it was impossible to find any one, outside of the son Joseph and the claimant - not even her other son - who knew anything about her business or affairs....The claimant appears to be an honest old German woman, and in making her statement, she said if she was not entitled to a pension, she did not want it, adding that she wouldn't tell a lie for all the pensions' (National Archives of United States.)
